SATURDAY, SEPT 11

SPECIAL GUEST STAR NATE DIAZ

DOORS AT 7 PM / FIGHTS AT 8:30 PM

If having some of the best most hyped fights on Saturday, Sept 11 at Wild Bill’s Fight Night wasn’t enough, Nate Diaz will also be in attendance for a special meet and greet and private dinner before the fights!

Nate Diaz is coming off a war against Marcus Davis which earned him Fight of the Night honors last week on PPV. He’ll be at Wild Bill’s Fight Night on Saturday, Sept 11 to host Feast With the Beast “Dinner with Nate Diaz”.

Feast With the Beast with Nate Diaz is limited to only the first 50 people. For only $100 you can have all you can eat Hooters wings with Nate Diaz at Wild Bill’s from 7 pm – 8:30 and soft drinks, get a ringside ticket for the fights that night, a Wild Bill’s Fight Night tshirt and get photos with Nate and anything you’d like signed by him. To signup, CLICK HERE.

The main event of the night features an extremely competitive fight between Atlanta’s Tex Johnson (Alpha/Knuckle Up, 7-3) and North Carolina’s Roger Carroll (Team Superior, 7-5). Both fighters have fought in Atlanta for years against the toughest competition and now it’s time for both to fight each other at 185 lbs.

Roger said about Tex, “I feel that my biggest threat to Tex is that I am a well-rounded fighter. I can wrestle, punch, utilize elbows and I have a ground game, so I bring the whole package. I see the fight ending explosively with a KO and my hand being raised. Unfortunately, Tex has the cooler haircut and the ladies probably think he is better looking.”

The co-main event between Sonny South (X3 Sports and In The Ring) andJonny Buck (Team Husky) has received much attention as both fighters not only dislike each other, they simply hate each other! The two fought each other at Wild Bill’s more than a year ago with Buck stopping South in the second round. South says he came into that fight sick and says Buck landed several illegal elbows to the back of the head that the referee missed. Buck has said he plans on damaging South much more in this fight than he did the last one.

Sonny South will be featured on Rock 100.5’s The Regular Guys on Wednesday morning at 8:30 am to play Bitch Slap Trivia with Southside Steve.

He looks to continue that streak as he faces Tony Sousa from American Top Team Saturday night.

In other pro fights, Marietta fighters Andrew Higgins of Fusion MMA andScott Farhat of Striker Fight Center both come with similar records as Higgins is 2-2 and Farhat is 2-1.

And in another local pro MMA matchup, X3 Sports’ Steve Hall makes his pro MMA debut against MOAB Fighting Concepts’ standout Mark Inge.

For fight tickets CLICK HERE for ticketmaster or call the Fight Hotline at 678-TKO-0115 or visit the promoters’ websites at Full Throttle Entertainment or Undisputed Productions.

MESSAGE FROM WKN WORLD OFFICE :

” Regarding the problem extra sportive that took place in the latest edition of Ergen Ring Attest 13 in the city of Van on 14 of august 2010 where WKN representative of TURKEY for all the world and official supervisor of this show , Mr. Osman Yigin , had to face an unsupportive and inexplicable situation ( in a very dangerous and unsecure position ) after the WKN World championship between Erhan DENIZ ( TURKEY ) and Slavo POLUGIC ( SWITZERLAND ) ; WKN World office together with the WKN World directors have decided to suspend on an unlimited period the WKN activities in Turkey until a meeting will be organized between a WKNrepresentative , the Turkish Kickboxing federation and a representative of the Turkish sport minister .

WKN has been active in TURKEY since more than 3 years now and has supported on the highest level the promotion ERGEN RING ATESI ( 12 editions were promoted without any problems ) , his promoter M. Orhan ERGEN and many Turkish sportsmen like Adem BOZKURT , Erkan VAROL , Seyda DUYGUN AYGUN , Ali LAKAYIS…..

This decision was not easy to take as we consider TURKEY as an important partner for WKN , with a high level on sport education and what happen this week end in the city of VAN has give about TURKEY a very negative image to the world sport and his whole community “

The International Fight Showdown (IFS) quarter finals took place at the Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel & Resort to determine the final four contestants of the tournament. The night featured the four tournament bouts, along with eight other fights in various weight divisions.

Raymond Mendiaz of Riverside’s United States Karate Organization (USKO) opened the tournament fights by defeating Joe Velasco of CSW by unanimous decision. The Riverside-native controlled the fight from the beginning, landing power punches that rocked Velasco. Mendiaz also used the ring effectively, holding his opponent in the clinch against the ropes and delivering devastating knees to the body. The 18-year-old dropped his opponent with a right in the final seconds of the night. However, the referee did not give the standing eight-count.

“I wanted to go hard in there, put on the pressure,” Mendiaz said after the fight. “I plan on training just as hard for my next fight, keep up my game plan and come out and fight.”

Mendiaz trains at Joe Pagliuso’s USKO gym in Riverside, Calif. He is a former boxer who used to train with his father but changed to kickboxing and mixed martial arts.

“He was a bit tentative in his first fight,” Pagliuso said about Mendiaz’s performance in the tournament. “In this fight he was more mature. Things are starting to come together for him. I think he has a good chance at winning the whole thing.”

The second tournament fight had Savak Ohaijaian of the Glendale Fight Club facing Edgar Islas of Oyama MMA & Fitness. Ohaijaian had a slight height advantage and used his long legs to push and keep Islas at bay. This allowed him to keep Islas from clinching. Islas had the crowd with him, but Ohaijaian took the fight and will face Mendiaz in the semifinal.

The third fight of the tournament produced the first knock out of the night. Jason Gonzalez of the Academy Striking & Grappling in Moreno Valley, Calif. took on Robert Holguin of Adrenaline Combat Sports. The knees were key in this fight, as Gonzales dominated the match striking Holguin repeatedly in the midsection. The second round began with a standing eight count on Holguin. The referee stopped the fight a few moments later as Gonzalez delivered a barrage of unanswered knees to Holguin’s sternum.

The final tournament fight had Andrew Santhivong of Sit Yod Tong facing Edwin Avila of San Pedro Muay Thai. The fight was highly contested between the two fighters, both receiving standing eight counts in the first round. However, Santhivong would cut Avila’s face, forcing the referee to call the doctor, who would stop the fight. Santhivong will face Gonzalez in the semifinal.

Other fight results:

Michelle Nagy of Oyama MMA defeated Debbie Gatchalian of Brigada Elite Ring Sports and Fitness.

Antonio Juan of Adrenaline Combat Sports took the split decision over Victor Jong of The Yard Muay Thai.

Marcos Guevarra of Dobler’s Muay Thai used his height advantage to defeat Carlos Otiano of Piston Gym.

“His reach took me out of my game plan,” Otiano said smiling after the fight. “I was trying to figure out how to get in and around his reach.”

Felipe Andalla of KR Muay Thai knocked out Borin Khoun of Muay Thai School USA with a kick to the head with seven seconds remaining in the final round. The fight was intense, but up to the KO, it appeared Khoun would take the decision over the 37 year-old.

Jody Cater of OC Muay Thai defeated Coleman Hyer of Progress Martial Arts by TKO after the doctor stopped the fight for excessive bleeding.

The referee stepped in to stop the fight as Israel Flores of Flores Muay Thai delivered several unanswered shots to the head of Charles Cha of Dobler’s Muay Thai.

Brian Bruns of USKO defeated Ramon Moreno of the Muay Thai Academy by split decision.

The final fight of the evening had Super Heavyweight Nick Kosovich of Sit Yod Tong defeat Max Quinteros of Bravado Muay Thai by split decision.

Extending our condolences to everyone who’s life was touched by Adrienne Simmons, news of her tragic death was reported by Anika Myers Palm in the Orlando Sentinel. The story was posted on 2010.07.27 at 04:02 PM EDT. A number of sources have since reported to us that there was an M.D. on duty but no ambulance on the scene.

FEMALE THAI BOXER DIES AFTER BLOW

Kickboxer Adrienne Simmons, who was knocked unconscious during a fight on Sunday, has died.

A kickboxer who took a strong blow during a fight on Sunday has died.

Adrienne Simmons received a left hook during the third and final round of a bout at the Marriott Orlando World Center Marriott resort, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Simmons, 34, of Atlanta, Ga., died Monday afternoon, according to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she had been transported.

The fight was part of a kick-boxing match sponsored by the International Kick-Boxing Federation. After Simmons received the blow, an IKF doctor treated her, the sheriff’s office said.

According to its website, the federation hosted the 2010 IKF World Classic at the Marriott Friday through Sunday. The federation did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment about the incident. Headgear is required in IKF competition, according to the ikfkickboxing.com website.

Simmons had been fighting Lindsay Scheer in a Muay Thai match. Fighters in Muay Thai, a kind of kickboxing which originated in Thailand, use their feet, elbows, hands and knees to rain blows on their opponents.

Scheer’s coach, Eric Haycraft, posted on his public Facebook page that Sunday’s fight “seemed like a normal bout.”
When Simmons fell, a referee ended the bout immediately and doctors sitting ringside attended to her right away. After she sat up and spoke, medical personnel took her away from the ring, Haycraft wrote.

Shortly after that, Haycraft wrote, he and Scheer learned that Simmons had been airlifted to the hospital.

Simmons’ boyfriend, Chike Lindsay-Ajudua, said in an interview with WFTV Channel 9 that Simmons was a caring person who had been working on a master’s degree in education.

In the interview, Lindsay-Ajudua, who is also a kickboxer, questioned whether Simmons had been promptly transferred to a hospital once it was clear how serious her injuries were.

It is not clear how long elapsed between her collapse and when she was taken to the hospital.

On her Facebook page, which also is open to the public, Scheer late Monday night described Simmons as brave and wrote that part of herself had died along with Simmons.

“I have literally been inconsolable since that moment,” Scheer wrote. “I did not know what it really felt like to cry. I was and am broken.”

This is the second death resulting from a bout in a combat sport involving punching and kicking in less than a month.

In June, a 30-year-old MMA fighter died after suffering a brain hemorrhage after his first professional fight in South Carolina.
“I cannot say it’s not happening,” Francis Fong of the Thai Boxing Association of the USA said about serious injuries in the sport. “If I say that, it’s a lie.”

Fong, who also owns a martial arts school in Norcross, Ga., said people involved in the sport have to work on improving safety in the ring.

“Hopefully we learn from this,” Fong said.

In her Facebook note, Scheer wrote that she has another fight scheduled for Aug. 29 in Suriname, but would not proceed with it if Simmons’ family thought it would be disrespectful for her to do so.

Check out this update from Nick Lembo of the Association of Boxing Commissions Muay Thai Committee:

At the July 2009 ABC Convention in New Orleans, I submitted a rough draft of unified rules and suggested the formation of a Committee to later present unified rules for the sport in the United States and Canada and sovereign indian nations.

It is my goal to educate Commissions who are not familiar with muay thai while, at the same time, providing unified rules to foster the growth of the sport.

At the July 2009 convention, such a Committee was formed. Chad Kurle of North Dakota later resigned from the Committee and was replaced by Dr. Schoenewe of Oklahoma.

The Committee now consists of:

Chairman Nick Lembo, New Jersey
Joe Miller, Oklahoma
Bernie Profato, Ohio
Dr. Corey Schoenewe, Oklahoma
Dr. Sherry Wulkan, New York

On July 21, 2010 at the 2010 ABC Convention in New Orleans, I made a brief presentation summarizing our discussions for the past year about rules, fouls, scoring and amateurs etc. I asked for the Committee to continue for one more year with the goal of a final presentation of unified rules to be voted on at the 2011 ABC Convention.

The goal is to present the ABC, at its July 2011 convention, to be held in Washington D.C., with a standardized rule set to be used in North America for all professional and amateur muay thai contests.

So far, we have accomplished the task of gathering advisers from around the globe who are unquestioned experts in their beloved sport of muay thai Their contributions have been invaluable. We have had pages and pages of documented discussions.

Our goal is to introduce something that has as lasting and large of an impact as the unified rules have in the sport of mixed martial arts. We are confident that we will have a fine tuned polished product in 2011 as I intend to devote much time and effort to it in the upcoming year.

I am very proud to have the following individuals on this Committee’s Advisory Board.

Mick Doyle, Nebraska
Clint Heyliger, New York
Tony Moore, England
Tony Myers, England
Stephen Strotmeyer, Pennsylvania
Manuel Taningco, Ohio
Kumron Vaityanon, New Jersey
Sakasem Kanthawong, part time New Jersey
Anthony Salcedo, Florida
