Suspension of all USA Boxing activities has been handed down by AIBA, the international federation for boxing

To: All Members of Metro From: Metro Board of Directors Date: October 25, 2012 Last night, Colorado notified leadership of every LBC in the country that all amateur boxing activities in the United States are immediately suspended. The suspension cancels all sanctioned competitions, coach and official clinics, boxing club activities, membership registrations, and insurance coverage. This suspension of all USA Boxing activities has been handed down by AIBA, the international federation for boxing. This development comes as a great shock to the Metro Board of Directors and we, like all of our fellow members, are extremely disappointed at this unfortunate situation. However, Metro must abide by the decisions of USA Boxing and AIBA and has no choice at this time but to cancel every scheduled sanctioned bout. We are heartened by the response from Executive Director Anthony Bartkowski when asked about the status of upcoming events: ?We are finalizing a letter to AIBA currently to ask for leniency on local boxing shows. We hope to have a favorable response so shows can continue?.? The Metro Board of Directors apologizes for any inconvenience that this suspension may cause and will keep the Metro community advised of any future developments via this page and email. To be kept up to date on events as they happen, please sign up for our email list below. The first email will include the letter received from USA Boxing. Respectfully, Metro Board of Directors
